About the Badí‘ Calendar – Inaugurated by His Holiness the Báb

In 2014 the worldwide elected governing body of the Bahá’í Faith, the Universal House of Justice, released a momentous message, announcing for the first time the global, common implementation of the Badí‘ calendar for Bahá’ís all around the world. The Badí‘ calendar, inaugurated by Bahá’u’lláh’s forerunner, the Báb, is the first purpose built calendar to be created for a worldwide religion. It is based on astronomical rather than astrological principles and is not adapted from an older lunar calendar.

The calendar also involves details for fixing the date of Naw-Rúz, the Bahá’í New Year, and when the Twin Holy Birthdays of the Báb and Bahá’u’lláh are to be celebrated, along with other Holy Day dates.
